I’m headed to Chicago to make my Deepcuts debut at Signal in Wicker Park tomorrow, so long-time friend of the show A. D. Walsh graciously offered to cover for me this week. Operating out of Montreal for nearly a decade now, A. D. Walsh is a musician with deep roots in Michigan and intimate familiarity with many artists and music scenes across the Midwest. It’s a delightful mix that feels very much like home, and I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do. Big big love and gratitude to Alex for coming on <3

Much of Chicago is built from Chicago Common bricks. If you're in Chicago, you're probably near some now. Chicago Commons are the rougher and dirtier bricks on the sides and back of many of Chicago's buildings. They're made from the clay from the Chicago River and when fired they can turn a range of colors, like buff yellow, salmon pink, or deep red. Chicago bricks age beautifully and take on a beautiful patina.

Mineral Spirit and 1022 trade love songs for a love filled episode.

Brumaire kicks off the so-called new year with an interview with Muskegon based musician and friend of the show, Shelby Obzut. Shelby and her dive into both Shelby's catalog and influences, spanning from Michigan to Mexico, and beyond. A fun listen to start your year off!

Brumaire is joined this week by Rapidian staple Allison, to discuss her work in the journal and other media endeavors! Allison is a veteran reporter for the Rapidian, and works extensively with the Grand Rapids Media Center. A great show for those looking to get more involved in the electoral and journalistic side of things here in Grand Rapids.
